The Department of Mental Health Law and Policy (MHLP), Louis de la Parte Florida Mental Health Institute (FMHI), College of Behavioral and Community Sciences, University of South Florida (USF) invites applications from qualified candidates to fill two 9-month, tenure earning faculty positions (positions #9102 & 10567) at the rank of Assistant Professor. Successful candidates are expected to have, or to demonstrate the potential for, an independent program of research focused on public sector behavioral health services, with research foci in one or more of the following areas:
- Mental health services and policy
- Substance abuse and co-occurring disorders
- Veteran's behavioral health
- Trauma-informed care
- Juvenile justice
- Mental health issues within the justice system
- Forensic mental health
- Prevention, care and treatment of HIV/AIDS
Successful candidates are expected to be active mentors and to teach 2 undergraduate and/or graduate level courses per semester. Teaching expectations are negotiable for those with externally funded research activities. The faculty members will be expected to secure ongoing external funding to support their research programs. Applicants with demonstrated contributions to professional outreach related to behavioral health services who are interested in developing collaborative research partnerships with University colleagues, as well as local, state and federal agencies are encouraged to apply. Minimum qualifications include holding a terminal degree (e.g., Ph.D., J.D., Dr.P.H.) by the time of appointment and a demonstrated record of research in areas consistent with the research foci of these positions.
Preferred qualifications include a strong publications record related to the foci of these positions, experience applying for or demonstrated success in obtaining external funding related to behavioral health services research, experience working as part of a research team, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and a record of collaborative work with both academic and community partners. A strong background in research methods and/or statistics is desired. Documented teaching experience is preferred.
Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.
