The Institute for Palestine Studies (IPS) is a private, nonprofit, nonpartisan academic institution with offices in Beirut, Ramallah, and Washington, DC, dedicated to documentation, research, analysis, and publication on Palestinian affairs and the Arab-Israeli conflict. IPS does not engage in lobbying.
The IPS is seeking a principal researcher (PR) to oversee implementation of a pedagogically oriented, bilingual (English-Arabic) interactive web-based product on the history of the Palestine Question and the Arab-Israeli conflict, mainly from the late-19thcentury. The PR will be responsible for: commissioning and supervising a team of researchers, writers, and research assistants; ensuring academic quality, rigor, coherence, unity of style and format of the product; supervising translations; working closely with IT experts. This is a consultancy position.
Qualifications: An advanced academic degree in history, political science, or related fields (a PhD with 5 years experience; an MA with at least 8 years research experience); deep and broad knowledge of the history of Palestine and the Arab-Israeli Conflict; organized and systematic; proven capacity in drafting and editing; high degree of organization and supervisory and follow-up skills; some IT knowledge; ability to conceive of ways to present content to meet the needs of various potential audiences. Preference is for a bilingual (English/Arabic) candidate, but excellence in English is a must.
