BRAZILIAN URBAN HISTORY. The Department of History at the University of Chicago invites applications for a tenured associate or recently promoted full professor in Brazilian Urban History, to begin Autumn Quarter 2013. The candidate ought to be able to teach courses and engage in research along the lines of the recent growing interest in Brazilian interdisciplinary studies –blending political, social, and cultural history, as well as sociological and political science approaches. A strong focus on the 20th century history of Brazilian major cities is desired, along with a capability to build bridges between the University of Chicago’s growing urban and Latin American studies and peer institutions in Brazil.
