Islamic World/Middle East. The history department of Tulane University seeks a tenure-track assistant professor in Islamic/Middle Eastern history, starting August 2013. Research specialization open, teaching experience preferred. The successful candidate will be expected to teach courses on the history of Islam and courses that address the major conflicts and issues in the history of the modern Middle East. The candidate should also be prepared to teach a course regularly that could be cross-listed with Jewish Studies. Candidates must complete all requirements for the Ph.D. by 1 June 2013. Applicants’ overall dossiers should include letter of application, c.v., an article-length writing sample and at least three letters of reference.
