Assistant Professor of American History
The Department of History, Political Science, and Philosophy at the University of South Carolina Aiken invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor in American history beginning August 2013. The department seeks broadly trained candidates prepared to teach the American history surveys as well as upper level courses in their areas of specialization, ideally the late 19th and 20th century. Candidate should not duplicate existing departmental strengths (Native American and history of American religion). Candidate must demonstrate excellence in teaching, potential for productive scholarship. Position open to candidates with a completed doctoral degree in US history at the time of appointment. Responsibilities include a 4/4 teaching load with 2 preps per semester, research and productive scholarship and, after the first year, student advisement as well as service to the department, university, and broader community.
