The Department of African-American Studies at Georgia State University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position beginning August 2013, pending budgetary approval. The research focus is African-American Culture. Candidates with research in urban Black popular culture, the Black Arts Movement, or comparative African diaspora cultures will receive particular consideration. Graduate training in Africana Studies is preferred; a Ph.D. is required at the time of hire. Candidates will teach undergraduate and graduate courses. Review of applications begins November 1, 2012 and position will remain open until filled. An offer of employment will be conditional upon background verification.
