The Department of Political Science and Geography at The University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in American Politics to begin Fall 2013.
Required Qualifications: All applicants must have a Ph.D. in Political Science or a directly related discipline by August 31, 2013. The successful applicant should: be able to articulate a research agenda; have an emerging record of publications; possess excellent methodological, research design, and teaching skills; be committed to Department and University to service; and be willing to teach a range of courses in American politics, including introductory courses at both the undergraduate and master’s level.
Preferred Qualifications: The Department is especially interested in applicants who specialize in the following areas: public opinion, political parties, interest groups, political psychology, and mass media. Preference will be given to applicants who demonstrate the ability to teach a broad range of courses at the undergraduate and graduate level, and to applicants who can teach quantitative methods and/or political inquiry/research design courses at the graduate level.
Responsibilities: Teach, advice, and mentor undergraduate and graduate students at the Main and Downtown campuses; pursue an active research and publishing agenda; teach broadly in American politics and in the researcher’s area(s) of specialization at undergraduate and master’s degree levels; and serve the University, profession, and community.
