The Department of Classics and World Religions at Ohio University is seeking a scholar of Hinduism with knowledge of Sanskrit for a tenure track appointment as the Drs. Ram and Sushila Gawande Chair in Indian Religion and Philosophy at the Assistant Professor level. The scholar who holds this chair will develop courses in Hinduism, Indian Epic traditions and the writings and philosophy of Mahatma Gandhi. We seek someone with a record of excellence in teaching and interest in the problems and issues of religious studies broadly conceived. Working with students at the graduate and undergraduate levels, this scholar will also contribute to greater understanding of Indian traditions at Ohio University and in the broader community. In addition to a competitive salary, the Gawande chair includes funds for professional development.
Applicants should have a Ph.D. in hand at the time of appointment, a strong research agenda, and teaching experience.
