Assistant or Associate Professor, Art Education

Required Qualifications: ABD in Art Education (near completion) for Assistant level. PhD or EdD in Art Education for Associate level. Three years of P-12 teaching experience. Evidence of a successful research agenda or demonstrated potential for published research and/or an exhibition record (Assistant level). Strong record of research, teaching and service (Associate level). Commitment to urban, culturally diverse communities (both levels). Applicants at the associate professor rank will have already achieved this rank at another institution.
Preferred Qualifications: Higher education teaching experience, experience mentoring and supervising student teachers, and interest in assuming a leadership role in curriculum development. Applicants at the rank of associate professor will present evidence of strong collaboration with schools and/or community-based institutions and a record of mentoring students from diverse backgrounds.
Responsibilitiesinclude: 1) Teach 3 undergraduate courses a term; 2) supervise student teachers in field experiences; 3) build cooperative relationships with area schools and community-based institutions; 4) advise majors; 5) assume a leadership role in the ongoing development of the art education program, and; 6) coordinate art education adjunct faculty. The successful candidate will be expected to maintain professional scholarship and involvement with local, state and national associations. Standard departmental and university service is expected.
Salary and Rank: Commensurate with qualifications, experience, and policies of the College and University plus excellent benefits.
Start date: August 16, 2013.
