The Department of History at Ohio University invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professorship in modern African history. The department, which offers B.A., M.A., and Ph.D. degrees, welcomes candidates with any thematic and geographical specializations in the field.
The successful candidate will be expected to offer both broad and specialized courses in African history at the undergraduate and graduate levels, as well as world history surveys. The teaching load is 2-2. The successful applicant also will have the opportunity to participate in the university’s distinguished African Studies program, which enjoys National Resource Center status. Applicants should have a Ph.D. in hand at the time of appointment (August 2013), a strong research agenda, and teaching experience.
