Luther College invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of History (modern European history) beginning late August 2013. Ph.D. by September 1, 2013 in Modern European History. Specialization is open, but preference given to candidates with particular interest in nineteenth- or twentieth-century history, and a field in Scandinavian history. Ability to teach a course in Russian history is desirable. Demonstrated commitment to teaching excellence, maintaining an active scholarly agenda, and student advising also required. Teaching responsibilities will include a survey course in modern European history and more specialized courses in areas of research interest, including history courses which are part of the Scandinavian Studies program. The successful candidate will also participate in teaching Paideia (a college-wide program which includes an interdisciplinary writing course for all first-year students, as well as upper-division interdisciplinary courses).
