Senior Lecturer of Chinese Studies
The Massachusetts Institute of Technology invites applications for a full-time Senior Lecturer in Chinese initially appointed for five years with possible indefinite renewals based on excellence in teaching, innovative curricular development, professional leadership and service to the field. The appointment begins on July 1, 2013. Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate language courses, mentoring lecturers, advising students, serving on search and review committees, and participating in the administration of the language program.
Candidates must have at least five years of experience in teaching Chinese at all levels in a U.S. university or college, experience in curricular design and material development, knowledge of foreign language teaching methodologies, and experience in mentoring lecturers and advising students. Minimum of M.A. in Chinese or related fields is required. PhDs are encouraged to apply. Native or near-native proficiency in Mandarin Chinese and English is required.
