Latin America. The Department of History at the University of Vermont has an opening for a tenure-track assistant professor of Latin American history, beginning August 15, 2013. Chronological period and area of specialization are open. The successful candidate will be expected to teach courses on Latin America at the introductory, intermediate and advanced levels. The candidate also will be expected to maintain an active program of research that leads to publication in peer-reviewed scholarly outlets and, where available, to seek extramural funding for that research.
Requirements: Ph.D. in history or in Latin American Studies with a preponderance of course work and research training in history. Faculty members are expected to teach, advise, and mentor undergraduate and graduate students when appropriate. The department is interested in candidates who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community through their research, teaching, and service.
