American Studies. The American Studies Department at Wesleyan University invites applicants for a tenure-track assistant professorship in 20th century/contemporary American cultural history. Ph.D. in American Studies, History, or a related field must be completed by the time of the appointment (July 1, 2013). Preference will be given to candidates who focus on the politics of culture with particular attention to gender, race, and class, ideally with a subspecialty in queer studies or the history of gender and sexuality. Candidates with teaching fields in popular culture, visual culture and/or material culture are especially encouraged to apply. Wesleyan is a highly selective liberal arts college; teaching load is two courses per semester.
