Transnational American Studies. The Department of American Studies at the University of Notre Dame invites applicants for a tenure-track assistant professorship in transnational American Studies to begin August 2013. We seek candidates who recognize transnational American Studies as a critical approach that pushes the discipline beyond and across national borders, including (but not limited to) scholarship that examines the cultures and peoples of the United States from international perspectives.
This full-time position will be rostered in a Department of American Studies affiliated with campus institutes, centers, and other departments engaged in transnational studies. The successful candidate will teach four courses per year including the introductory survey (on a rotating basis) and upper-level undergraduate courses in her/his area of specialization. Qualifications: Ph.D. in American Studies or related field. Degree expected at time of appointment, with preference given to candidates with excellent teaching skills and interests in contributing to an innovative American Studies curriculum, scholarly publications, and an active research agenda. Exceptional candidates at other ranks may be considered.
