The Bush School of Government & Public Service, Texas A&M University’s graduate school of public and international affairs, celebrates its second decade with a strategic focus on significantly expanding its faculty, programs and student enrollments. Its two professional master’s degree programs in Public Service and Administration and in International Affairs are very competitive, attracting high caliber students from throughout the United States and abroad to study with a multidisciplinary faculty committed to teaching, research and engagement. The Bush School invites nominations and applications for multiple tenured and tenure track faculty positions, as well as an academic administrative position and a professional practice position effective September 1, 2013, as enumerated below.
International Affairs
International Affairs Program Director. The Bush School of Government and Public Service at Texas A&M University invites nominations and applications for the position of Professor and Director of the Master of International Affairs Degree Program, with related responsibilities for the Scowcroft Institute of International Affairs and the academic operation of graduate certificate programs in Advanced International Affairs, National Security Affairs and China Studies. The master’s program and its related certificate offerings seek to provide students with a superior professional education for careers in international affairs within government or non-governmental organizations. The 48 credit hour professional degree combines required and elective classes with a foreign language requirement, leadership and communication development, internship opportunities, and an integrative capstone research project. The mission of the related Scowcroft Institute is to foster and disseminate policy-oriented research on international affairs by supporting faculty and student research and hosting speakers and scholarly conferences. The complementary graduate certificate programs provide 12-15 credit hours of transcripted and degree transferable courses delivered in a range of modalities on campus, online and/or in executive education format. The Bush School is a member of the Association of Professional Schools of International Affairs and its faculty blend theory and practice in a research intensive graduate setting.
The duties of the Program Director encompass the functions normally required for the administration of a graduate degree program resembling an academic department in a research university, including the supervision of curriculum development, review and revision; instructional activities and course scheduling; program planning and assessment; recruitment, review and development of the faculty; budget development and management; and student recruitment, admissions and counseling. The successful candidate will assume a 10.5 or 12 month academic administrative appointment as a tenured full professor of international affairs beginning as early as July 16, 2013, with the possibility of holding an endowed chair. He or she will meet qualifications required of a tenured full professor, including an outstanding record of research and scholarship, demonstrated success in graduate level teaching, and professional leadership in international affairs. In addition, the successful candidate will have a substantial record of professional and university service, with a special emphasis on graduate education and research, and provide evidence of excellent leadership, communication and management skills. Successful academic administrative experience in higher education is preferred as is a demonstrated commitment to professional education and knowledge of diverse instructional modalities.

Diplomatic History and Politics of Recent American Foreign Policy. The Bush School of Government and Public Service at Texas A&M University invites nominations and applications for a tenure track assistant professor or tenured associate professor with expertise in American foreign policy since World War II. Candidates who engage in research and teaching on the role of leadership in foreign policy-making during this period are preferred. Successful applicants should have a Ph.D. by the beginning of employment in September, 2013 and demonstrate evidence of a commitment to excellence in

International Politics of the Arab Region. Candidates should address the regional security affairs and international politics of key countries in the region. Public Service and Administration
Nonprofit Management. The Bush School of Government and Public Service at Texas A&M University invites applications and nominations for a tenure track assistant professor or tenured associate professor in nonprofit management to teach in its Master of Public Service and Administration program. Candidates with expertise in all fields related to nonprofit organizations, philanthropy, civil society and voluntary action will be considered. Of particular interest are scholars with a research agenda focused on nonprofit capacity, evaluation and accountability, or financial management. Successful candidates will support the Program’s public management track and its nonprofit management concentration and certificate program in response to growing student interest in nonprofit management. Successful candidates must demonstrate evidence of a commitment to both high quality research and teaching in a professional school of government and public service and have a Ph.D. by the beginning of employment in September, 2013. Public Service and Administration or International Affairs
Public Service Practice. The Bush School of Government and Public Service at Texas A&M University invites nominations and expressions of interest for visiting or temporary teaching appointments effective as early as September 1, 2013 to enhance graduate learning about the professional practice of public service. Non-tenure accruing appointments may range from one semester to several years and encompass a variety of appropriate lecturer, senior lecturer, clinical and/or professional practice titles. In addition to graduate instruction, such appointments involve academic advising, professional career counseling, and assistance with internships.
Ideal candidates will have held high-level governmental or nonprofit leadership and management positions at the local, state, federal and/or international levels, and have demonstrated expertise and experience in one or more of the following: domestic or international policy-making, advanced public management techniques and strategies, the role and functioning of nonprofit/non-governmental organizations, public and nonprofit finance and budgeting, international development, national security affairs, public service leadership, or policy analysis and related analytical methods. Such widely recognized practitioners must be effective communicators, teachers and mentors, as well as role models for future public servants. An advanced degree in a field related to public and international affairs is preferred, as is a record of scholarly engagement and teaching.
