Postdoctoral Fellowship/Asian History
The Department of History at Wheaton College (MA) invites applications for a two-year Andrew W. Mellon Foundation postdoctoral fellowship in Asian history, beginning in fall 2012. Candidates must have PhD in hand by June 30, 2012. The fellow will teach three courses in 2012-2013 and four courses in 2013-2014. One course from 2012-2013 may be repeated in 2013-2014. Geographic field is open, with preference for China and/or South Asia. Chronological specialization is open, though applicants must be able to offer survey courses on modern China and/or modern India and advanced courses broadly focused on their areas of research. Candidates with research and/or teaching expertise in economic development, gender, and/or diasporic/transnational connections between Asia and elsewhere in the world are encouraged to apply. The fellowship carries a stipend of $50,000 annually plus benefits, as well as a $5,000 research and travel fund. Wheaton College only accepts electronic submissions.
