Tenure-track faculty position available August 17, 2012. The successful candidate will be familiar with the theoretical challenges in this emerging field. Responsibilities: teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in the areas of digital history and the candidate’s content specialization as well as occasional survey courses in American history; build new expertise in the Digital History Education Laboratory under construction, training students to reach a broader public interested in consuming historical knowledge via new media. Preferred qualifications: Ph.D. in history with specialty in digital history; teaching experience at college or university level; subspecialty in U.S. women’s history or U.S. military history; experience and interest in applying new media and technology to the presentation and/or teaching of history (examples include but are not limited to text-mining, geographic information systems, natural language processing, visualization, gaming, immersive/virtual environments, and complex network analysis).
