The Department of English Language and Literature is seeking to make appointments at the rank of Professor/Associate Professor/Senior Lecturer/Lecturer, to start in 2012. The successful candidates will play a vital role in enhancing and sustaining our standing as a leading department of literary studies in Africa.
We invite applications from candidates with primary research and teaching expertise in:
- Literature before 1800 (particularly 1500-1700)
- Literature after 1900 (particularly contemporary Anglophone literature, world literature, metropolitan and/or transnational modernism)
- African and South African literature.
In addition, secondary research and/or teaching interests in one or more of the following areas would be a recommendation: creative writing; poetry; gender studies and feminism; critical theory; American literature.
