The History Department of the University of Massachusetts Boston invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in 19th-21st century Sub-Saharan African History. The appointment will begin September 1, 2012. Area of specialization is open. We are also favorable to candidates whose interests include the Atlantic World. Teaching responsibilities include a two-semester African History introductory survey and upper division and graduate courses in the candidate's areas of specialization. Teaching experience preferred.
Qualifications: a doctoral degree is required and must have been awarded no later than June 2012. Candidates must demonstrate a strong commitment to scholarship and to teaching excellence in an urban public university.
