The Department of History at Manhattanville College invites applications for a tenure track assistant professorship in the modern history of the Middle East to begin Fall 2012. In addition to developing courses in his or her primary field, the successful candidate should be prepared to teach the survey course in modern world history and to develop courses in a secondary area such as North African, South Asian or Slavic history. Ph.D. required by July 1, 2012.
History is the fourth-largest undergraduate major at Manhattanville and a popular liberal arts subject of study for non-majors. Department faculty members contribute actively to the college’s general education curriculum and co-curricular activities as well as teaching courses within their own areas of primary scholarly research. The department also actively supports interdisciplinary area studies academic programs, including a major program in International Studies. The successful candidate for this position should be interested in contributing to and developing interests in these areas. Experience and excellence in undergraduate teaching is preferred.
