The History Department at Grand Valley State University seeks a colleague for a tenure-track appointment in Modern Latin American History to begin in August 2012. A successful candidate must demonstrate enthusiasm for teaching Modern Latin American History. Additional areas of interest include, but are not limited to, archaeology, environmental history, and U.S. foreign relations. The successful candidate will teach advanced history courses on Modern Latin America, general education courses in World History, especially a survey of Latin America. The selected candidate will also have the opportunity to develop new courses relating to area of specialization as well as play an active role in shaping and strengthening our Latin American Studies program, and will be expected to advise majors. In addition to a strong commitment to teaching, candidates must show an active research agenda. PhD. in history or related field required for appointment at assistant rank; ABDs with completion by August 5, 2013 required for consideration at the instructor level.
