Bard College’s Division of Social Sciences invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Latin American Studies, in the disciplinary fields of anthropology, history, political science or sociology, to begin fall 2012. Candidate must hold Ph.D. or be nearing its completion this year. Area of specialization: Mexico preferred. Must be able to teach two historical surveys of Latin America: from pre-Columbian to independence, and from nationhood to contemporary period, as well as a course on Mexican history and culture. He or she should maintain a vigorous and active commitment to scholarship as well as a lively interest in undergraduate teaching at a small liberal arts college with an intellectually curious, sophisticated student body. Multidisciplinary approaches welcome. The successful candidate will also be expected to contribute to general education at the college.
