World History/Cultural and/or Social History
The Department of History at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse invites applicants for a tenure-track position for fall 2012 at the assistant professor level from individuals with a specialty in cultural history and/or social history. Regional, geographic, and period specialization is open. The department is especially interested in applications from candidates with specialties in race, class, social movements, sports and leisure, film, the arts, and literature.
Teaching responsibilities include three courses per semester, including a General Education World History course and upper level courses in specialty areas. Ph.D. in an appropriate field, in hand by August 2012. Please list major and minor fields of specialization on C. V. and submit a letter of application, C.V., unofficial transcript, and two letters of recommendation by November 1, 2011. Application letters (500-750 words) should address teaching experience including experience and/or ability to teach world history, and research interests and agenda. The Department of History provides students with a solid foundation in a world history curriculum, with specialties in selected time periods, themes, and subjects. Faculty are leaders in disciplinary specialties and history education. Half of all History majors and minors are teacher education students. The department partners in interdisciplinary programs, including Latin American Studies, Women's Gender, and Sexuality Studies, German Studies, Russian Studies, Environmental Studies and Public History.
