Widener University, a metropolitan university in suburban Philadelphia, seeks a full-time, tenure-track assistant professor in modern East Asian history (specialization in modern China is particularly desirable, to work with the Chongqing/Widener Culture & Study Program). The successful candidate is expected to offer both world history surveys and upper division courses in area(s) of specialization, as well as contribute to the creation of an interdisciplinary minor in East Asian Studies. The appointment begins September 2012. Widener is a teaching institution with a 3/4 teaching load (and the possibility of periodic released time). Applicants must have a Ph.D. by the time of appointment. Deadline for completed application: November 1.
