The Paul B. Henry Institute for the Study of Christianity and Politics at Calvin College is seeking candidates for the position of Chair/Executive Director. The holder of the position will be expected to propose, inaugurate, and implement programs consistent with the Institute’s mission of promoting serious reflection on the interplay between Christianity and public life. Past activities have included conferences, guest lectures, research projects and collaboration, student internships and research assistance, as well as graduate seminars and undergraduate courses offered in conjunction with the Department of Political Science. The Institute is open to candidates in all subfields of political science, though it would be helpful if the candidate could teach courses in political theory. A distinguished record of publication, teaching, and service is expected. The primary duties include overseeing the general operation of the Institute, supervising the staff of the Institute, seeking to secure external funding for the Institute, producing scholarly work consistent with the goals of the Institute, and undergraduate teaching (on a reduced load). It is expected that, pending administrative approval, the successful candidate will be appointed as a Calvin faculty member. Calvin College is a co-educational, four-year liberal arts college, which seeks faculty members who affirm the Christian faith as expressed by the Reformed confessions.
