Assistant Professor of American Military History
The Department of History at Coastal Carolina University invites applications for a tenure-track position as Assistant Professor of American Military History. Preferred is an experienced teacher whose training and demonstrated scholarship is centered on the American Civil War. The candidate must hold an earned Ph.D. in the field. The position requires a seven-course teaching load during the academic year, with an upper division course and multiple sections of United States History Survey each semester. Teaching assignments may include evening and/or weekend courses and courses taught at off-campus sites. The position carries a nationally competitive salary. Screening of candidates will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled, with a preferred appointment date of 15 August 2011 although an appointment may be made for as late as January 2012.
