Limited Term Position in Early Modern Britain (1500-1800)
The Department of History at the University of Saskatchewan invites applications for a limited term (five year) academic appointment in Early Modern Britain, to commence on 1 July 2011. We welcome applications in all thematic and geographic areas (including Ireland).
Applicants should demonstrate how their research and teaching will contribute to and enhance current University of Saskatchewan faculty expertise in British history. The Department of History is home to half a dozen historians of the British Isles, covering both medieval and early modern periods. Current British research specialties include history of science, medicine and magic; history of gender and sexuality; cultural and intellectual history; and Scottish and urban history.
This appointment will be at the Lecturer level (current starting salary $62,626.00). A completed Ph.D. is required at the time of appointment, as is evidence of excellence in undergraduate teaching. Candidates will be required to teach the first year European History course and undergraduate courses in Early Modern British History. They also will be expected to pursue an active research program and contribute to the department’s graduate program.
