The University of Delaware has identified political communication as a strategic initiative and has established the University of Delaware Center for Political Communication (www.udel.edu/epicenter). The University’s College of Arts and Sciences invites applications for faculty positions associated with the Center. Outstanding candidates from all areas of political communication are encouraged to apply, but preference will be given to those with research interests in such fields as: election campaigns and advertising; the shaping of public policy and opinion; the role of the political and entertainment news media; civic engagement; social movements; the emergence of new political communication methods and strategies; information technologies including digital and social networking media; other political uses of media and communication technologies; and the study of politics, media, technology and culture within global and historical contexts. Appointments may be made in one or more of the following units: Communication, History, Political Science, Sociology or Urban Affairs and Public Policy, as appropriate for the successful candidates. These appointments will commence September 1, 2011. It is expected that a successful candidate will hold a Ph.D. in a related field and have demonstrated a strong record of leadership in collaborative, interdisciplinary research, teach core courses at all levels, demonstrate a strong commitment to and accomplishment in excellent research and teaching, and will be expected to establish an externally funded and highly visible research program that complements current research activities at the University.
