The history department at Western Oregon University seeks a colleague to join our department as a tenure track Assistant Professor with areas of expertise in West Asian history and an interest in colonial interactions with Europe to begin September 16,2011. Ph.D. in West Asian history or related fields is required by September 15, 2011. College-level teaching experience is preferred.
Responsibilities: The successful candidate will demonstrate an interest in developing courses in area of specialization, an ability to offer courses in Western Europe and survey courses for general education requirements and the major. The department offers both the bachelors and masters degree and supports a variety of interdisciplinary minors across campus. The successful candidate will teach the survey sequence, upper-division and graduate courses in fields outlined above, and courses rotated within the department in Philosophies of History, the Senior Seminar, and a foundation graduate course in Methods, Research and Writing (www.wou.edu/history).
