The history department at Brown University invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professorship in the history of the early medieval Mediterranean. We especially encourage applications from historians working on relations between the Muslim and Christian worlds. The successful candidate must have a Ph.D. by the time of appointment, must show exceptional scholarly promise and will be expected to teach a range of courses at the undergraduate and graduate level. The appointment will begin on July 1, 2011, or as soon as possible thereafter.
