The Department of History at Amherst College invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in modern European history. We welcome applications from candidates specializing in any time period after 1789 and in any geographical area except Russia and Central and Eastern Europe. We encourage applications from individuals whose particular methodological and topical interests will enhance our department’s offerings. We are looking for a colleague with strong commitments to scholarship and to teaching a diverse undergraduate student body. Candidates should be prepared to teach a range of courses (two in each semester), advise honors students, and participate in the life of the college. Candidates must have Ph.D. degree completed by July 1, 2011.
