Application Deadline Extended. We invite applications for a tenure-track appointment in Rhetorical Studies at the level of Assistant Professor. A Ph.D. in Communication or related discipline is preferred.
The successful candidate will demonstrate teaching effectiveness in courses similar to the Department’s offerings in Rhetorical Studies. Candidates will have the opportunity to develop new courses related to their specialties at the lower and upper division. Candidates whose work examines rhetorical phenomena within non-Western, multi-cultural, and/or globalized contexts are especially encouraged to make application. Applicants will be expected to contribute to the Department’s core courses, Theorizing Communication and Research in Communication, and help sustain the University’s commitment to Oral Communication across the Curriculum.
Prospective colleagues should reflect strong commitments to departmental citizenship and will be expected to contribute teaching excellence in a rigorous undergraduate liberal arts curriculum in Communication. Applicants should demonstrate the ability to develop and sustain a program of research leading to peer-reviewed publication. The successful candidate will contribute to the Department’s constitutive approach to the study of communication and may have opportunity to contribute to the University’s programs in Black Studies, East Asian Studies, Environmental Studies, International Studies, Queer Studies, Women’s Studies, and First Year Studies.
