The History Department of Loyola Marymount University invites applications for a full-time, entry-level, tenure-track position in the history of the Mediterranean World, 700-1400. We are especially interested in applicants whose work focuses on cross-cultural encounters. Teaching responsibilities include an introductory course in western civilization, Global Encounters (world history before 1500), and more advanced courses in the successful candidate’s area of specialization. Ph.D. is required. Applicants should send a letter of application, curriculum vitae, three letters of recommendation, a statement of teaching philosophy that includes a discussion of how the candidate would approach the teaching of a diverse group of students, and a writing sample such as a dissertation chapter or a journal article to Professor Najwa Al-Qattan, Chair, Mediterranean World Search Committee, Department of History, 1 LMU Drive, Los Angeles, CA 90045.
