East Stroudsburg University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor beginning August 2010. The History Department offers a Bachelor of Arts degree, a dual major in History/Secondary Education, and a Master of Arts degree in History. Responsibilities: The successful candidate will teach four courses or the equivalent per semester at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Course load will include surveys in world history, writing methods seminars, and upper-level and graduate courses in Latin American history. Additional duties include supervision of M.A. theses, mentoring and advising graduate and undergraduate students, engagement in scholarly activities, and providing service to the History Department, University, and community. Distance learning and/or off-campus teaching opportunities may be possible.
Required Qualifications: For full consideration a Ph.D. in Latin American History, specializing in either Mexico or South America at the time of appointment. Candidates currently enrolled in a history doctoral program are encouraged to apply, but they should make clear their progress toward completion. In addition, the candidates should have college teaching experience in world history surveys and/or Latin American History courses. The candidates should also demonstrate potential for scholarly activities and meeting student needs.
Additional Preferred Qualifications: Expertise in both Mexican & South American history. We welcome applications from candidates who bring diverse cultural, ethnic and national perspectives to their creative work and teaching.
