African/Latin American History. The History Department of Minnesota State University Moorhead invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position in African and Latin American History, to begin August 16, 2010. Position pending funding, and 9-month appointment (not necessarily academic year), $46,534-$51,158. Teaching load is 12 credits per semester. Responsibilities include Africa in World History, Latin America I and II, History of Mexico and Global Environmental History. We desire a person able to plan and offer other upper-level courses of interest, including those for the Dragon Core and take part in offering the Department’s senior seminar and methods class for majors. Duties include classroom teaching of university-level courses in History, advising students, ongoing scholarly activity, service to the university and community, and other customary faculty duties. Ph.D. in History required by the time of appointment, as is evidence of teaching excellence at the university level, research experience and evidence of scholarly achievement. Successful candidate must demonstrate the ability to work with students and faculty of diverse backgrounds including sensitivity to their needs and concerns.
