The History Program in the Division of Social Science at Minot State University invites applicants for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in European History, excluding France. Thematic specialization and geographic focus open. Teaching in one or more of the following outside fields for non-western/thematic coverage required: Public History, Environmental History, India, China, Near East / Middle East, or Pacific Rim.
The successful candidate will typically teach two upper-level courses and two world or western civilization surveys each semester. Experience and commitment to high-quality teaching of first-year students and advanced majors is a priority. The candidate will join a stable, dynamic department with approximately 90 majors, a record of excellence in teaching, and a commitment to active scholarship, community engagement and public history.
Ph.D. expected by time of appointment. Benefits include health insurance, TIAA-CREF retirement, and a sabbatical program. Review of applications will begin October 23, 2009 and will continue until position is filled. A criminal history background check must be satisfied prior to employment.
