Indiana University of Pennsylvania's Department of History seeks to fill a tenure-track assistant professorship in public history and United States history to begin Fall 2009. The position will be filled pending availability of funding. Teaching responsibilities will include upper-division and graduate classes in areas of specialization and a survey course for nonmajors on Western civilization in its world context since 1700. The position involves a twelve-hour teaching load with two or three preparations per semester. The successful applicant will contribute to the revision and expansion of the department's public history program.
Ph.D. and relevant experience in a public history setting (eg., museum, historic preservation, archives) required; other areas of specialization open, but of particular interest is expertise in U.S. intellectual/cultural history. Candidates must communicate effectively and perform well during the on-campus interviews, which may include a teaching demonstration. All applicants must be work eligible.
