Associate / Assistant Professor in Macau History / European History / World History

The University of Macau is a government-funded institution located in the Macao Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China. The Department of History of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities (FSH) invites applications for academic positions in the following areas:
1. Associate Professor in World History (ref. no.: FSH/DHIS/WHBA/ASO/09/2009)
2. Assistant Professor in World History (ref. no.: FSH/DHIS/WHBA/ASI/09/2009)
A Contemporary World/Global Historian to teach a course for students of the Faculty of Business Administration, which covers the history of the Americas, Europe and Asia since WWII, in addition to some upper level courses in the applicant's specialty. Expertise in Portuguese-speaking countries, Southeast Asian History, Maritime History, Missionary History, Historical Theory, South China, the Pearl River Delta, Historical Theory and Macau History would be a plus.
3. Assistant Professor in Macau History/European History (ref. no.: FSH/DHIS/MEH/09/2009)
A historian with the following research interests and required teaching areas: Macau History and the areas of the applicant's expertise including but not limited to Portuguese History, Maritime History, Missionary History, Hong Kong History and the History of Sino-European Relations. Related areas of Chinese and Japanese History, History of European Expansion and European-Asian Relations as well as History Theory and Practice will be a plus.
4. Assistant Professor in European History (ref. no.: FSH/DHIS/EH/09/2009)
A historian with the following research interests and required teaching areas: European History, History of European Expansion and the History of Sino-European Relations and/or Macau History. Related areas of History of Britain, Netherlands, France or Spain, History of Missionaries to Asia, History of European-Asian Relations as well as History Theory and Practice will be a plus.
For all of the above positions, the candidate should possess a relevant PhD degree and have a distinguished record of research and publication. He or she should, additionally have a record of teaching, service and scholarship justifying appointment as an Associate Professor/Assistant Professor and fluency in at least one language other than English in her/his specialty area (preferably Chinese, Portuguese, Japanese but Spanish, Dutch, French and Indonesian will also be considered). The candidate for Associate Professor should be fluent in reading and writing Chinese. A candidate with a strong research and publication record or agenda is preferred.
