WAR AND SOCIETY
The Department of History at Auburn University seeks to make a tenure-track appointment in war and society, area and period of specialization open, at the rank of assistant professor. The department especially welcomes applications from scholars employing a transnational or world focus in their research and teaching, and who complement but do not overlap existing strengths in the department. Ph.D. in History prior to employment date is preferred, but outstanding candidates who are in the final stages of dissertation writing (ABD) will be considered. However, appointment to the tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor requires the earned doctorate by August 15, 2009. The appointee will teach in the core curriculum in addition to courses in world military history and undergraduate and graduate courses in area of specialty. Appointment will begin August 16, 2009, contingent on funding. Please send a letter of application, transcripts, vita, evidence of teaching effectiveness, a short writing sample (such as an article or dissertation chapter), and three letters of recommendation to the address below.
