Hiram College invites applications for an entry-level, tenure-track appointment in modern European history (18th-20th centuries) with a preference for Continental Europe. The successful candidate will be able to offer a broad range of courses examining modern Europe plus an outside non-Western field (e.g., Africa, Middle East, Latin America) or world history. Candidates will also be expected to support the colleges general education programs by teaching writing-intensive first-year seminars or interdisciplinary courses linked to their research interests. The candidate would have the opportunity to contribute to our Study Abroad program, Master of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies, or Weekend College programs. The standard course load is 3 courses per semester. New hires would be eligible for a pre-tenure, 12-week sabbatical after 3 years of service at the college.
