The Department of History at Wayne State University invites applications for a tenure-track position in the history of the modern Middle East (1800 to the present) at the Assistant Professor level, to begin August 2009. Field of specialization is open. Teaching responsibilities include advanced and graduate courses in the history of the modern Middle East, and survey courses in Middle-Eastern and World history. The successful candidate, who will be based fully in the Department of History, also will be expected to participate in the Universitys new interdisciplinary Middle East discovery program. A strong commitment to research and publication and demonstrated teaching excellence are essential. The department will begin to consider applications on November 1, 2008.
