The Department of History at Coastal Carolina University invites applications for a tenure-track position as Assistant Professor of European History. The successful candidate will teach survey courses in either Modern World History or Western Civilization Since 1500 for the core curriculum and a rotation of four upper division courses in the following areas: Europe in the Age of Revolutions, Nineteenth-Century Europe, Modern European Colonialism, and any area or sub-field except France and Russia. Teaching assignments may include evening/weekend courses and courses taught at off-campus sites. The successful candidate will have an earned Ph.D. in History by the time of appointment. Appointment will be effective on August 16, 2009.

Coastal Carolina University is located in Conway, South Carolina, just nine miles from the Atlantic coastal resort of Myrtle Beach, one of the fastest-growing metropolitan areas in the nation.
