UNIVERSITY OF VIRGINIA. MODERN JAPANESE HISTORY (1868 to the present) beginning Fall 2009. Rank: tenure-track assistant professor. Area of specialization open. Candidates should exhibit excellence in scholarship and have a Ph.D. in hand or should expect to earn the Ph.D. by August 24, 2009. Candidates will be expected to participate in graduate training, offer undergraduate surveys along with more specialized courses in the field, and contribute to an interdisciplinary program in East Asian Studies.
