ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF WORLD HISTORY: Position Number 82179, College of Arts and Sciences, University of Hawaii at Hilo, tenure-track, general funds, full-time, nine-month type appointment, to begin approximately August 2009, pending position clearance and funding.
Teach three sections (per semester) of the two semester survey sequence in World History; advise students; engage in scholarly activity and publish results in peer reviewed publications; engage in curriculum development and outcomes assessment; serve as department resource on World History curriculum issues; and participate in University and community service.
Ph.D. in History (any field) from an accredited college or university; graduate field in World History OR experience teaching World History; evidence of successful undergraduate teaching (especially teaching evaluations), and an active research agenda.
Graduate field in World History AND experience teaching World History; peer reviewed publications in any field, preferably in World History; evidence of continuing, active research agenda. Experience with asynchronous education technologies. Commitment to learning outcomes assessment.
