Coe College. Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Assistant Professor, Full-Time, Tenure-Track Position. Beginning August 2009. Modern European History (including Britain and Russia), specific field open. Secondary fields or specialties in one or more of the following a plus: Imperial history; African history; and/or Atlantic World history. Preferred candidate should be prepared to teach courses that include: survey courses in Western Civilization; an historical methods course; topics courses on twentieth-century Europe; and other courses, including undergraduate research seminars, in the candidates fields of expertise. Standard teaching load is three courses a semester. Teaching experience important. Ph.D. required.
Coe College, a highly selective liberal arts college of 1,200 students, is located in a progressive, Eastern Iowa metropolitan area of 200,000. The area offers the usual range of urban amenities, including a thriving symphony and art museum. The University of Iowa and Iowa City are thirty minutes away. Cedar Rapids is located roughly midway between the Midwests largest urban centers, easily accessible via a regional airport ten minutes from campus.
