Eastern/Central Europe after 1848. Assistant Professor, tenure-track position beginning Fall 2009. Specialization or strong background in diplomatic history preferred, with subfields and specialties open. Candidates must have a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching; teaching responsibilities include a two-semester survey and upper-division courses in the instructors specialty, as well as one or two sections of an interdisciplinary Western Culture core course each semester. Successful candidates should have the Ph.D. by the time of appointment. Hampden-Sydney College is a four-year traditional liberal arts college for men located 60 miles southwest of Richmond, VA.
