The Canadian War Museum is currently seeking a dynamic individual who will, under the supervision of the Manager, Canada Culture Online Projects but under the direction of the Team Leader, Historical Content, perform specific assignments relating to the development of the virtual exhibition of the Canada Culture Online project; conduct systematic research in historical subjects, themes and museum collections related to the field of Canadian naval history to produce written reports in various standard and innovative formats; assist in curatorial and research work and perform other related duties as assigned.
As the ideal candidate, you hold a University degree in Canadian or military history.
You possess knowledge of:
Canadian military history (specifically the Royal Canadian Navy);
A wide variety of sources academic, archival and material for information about Canadian Military History;
Historical research and reporting methods;
Computerized databases and strong grasp of MS Office;
Material history and museum practices;
Of the general history of war and armed conflict.
You have extensive experience in:
Conducting complex research on general and specific aspects of Canadian naval history;
In preparing written research reports;
Entering and retrieving computer data;
Museums, historic sites and archives of Canadian military history;
Working in a highly computerized environment, word processing (Word), electronic spreadsheet (Excel), presentation (Power Point) and electronic mail.
