The history department of California State University at San Marcos invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professorship beginning in fall 2008. Applicants must have completed a PhD in history by August 2008. Historical field open, but candidates should have experience with new media and technology as applied to the presentation and/or teaching of history. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses in their area specialty, and also participate in implementing a new MA in history, in which students explore the possibilities for history of such applied media/technology tools as web-based presentations, documentary filmmaking, electronic/digital archival work, and educational technology. Applications must include a letter of introduction, a C.V., a short writing sample, three letters of recommendation, and a separate statement of teaching interests that describes how the candidate could contribute to a program emphasizing digital history. Review of applications will begin December 1, but will continue until the position is filled.
