VANDERBILT UNIVERSITY. The College of Arts and Science and the Department of History invite nominations and applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position, beginning Fall 2008, in Middle Eastern History. Ph.D. is required and applicants should demonstrate promise of outstanding research and teaching. The successful candidate will have research expertise in an area of the history of the Arab world, between the rise of Islam and the modern period. Teaching responsibilities will cover the range from Muhammad to the present. Ph.D. received by the beginning of the fall 2008 semester is required for appointment to a tenure-track position. The committee will begin looking at dossiers on October 15, 2007.
